To get an overview of our projects, take a look at the following videos!
ZOOM - 1/2

Here's the Zoom video presenting the highlights of our trip to Ghana in March 2022. Don't miss this great moment of sharing filled with photos of the children, the school, the village, the traditions (the feast and the visit to the chief!) and our adventures on the way back filled with elephants, selfies with those adorable little monkeys and white forts with a heavy past by the sea.

Enjoy!

ZOOM - 2/2

Here is the continuation/end of the zoom. If you want to see more photos of the village, the moving meeting with the village chief, the festivities and Ghana's natural beauty (monkeys, elephants, etc.), you can't miss the rest!

ÉDUCATION

"Chef de l’avenir" (Leader of the Future) School (Woon Sakaab)

The Chef de l'Avenir school is our current main project. It was founded in 2019 by Mr Yaw Dafabin Konlan, the school's founder and headmaster, with our support. We currently have around 200 pupils from nursery to the second year of secondary school.

HEALTH

Dajrim Foundation

Dajrim Foundation is a charity based in Bunkpurugu and Nalerigu, near Kpemale. It is administered by Mrs Cecilia Kennedy, the sister-in-law of Mr Yaw Konlan, the headmaster of our school. Its mission is to support the socially excluded (widows, orphans, the poor, the sick, women, etc.). Among other things, it has built two camps for patients with mental health problems and epilepsy, who are systematically ostracised in Ghana. The camp welcomes them, protects them, cares for them and enables them to reintegrate into society.

Since 2022, we have been bringing suitcases of medicines to every mission from Collaboration Santé Internationale and its ‘Parcels under the arm’ programme. Thanks to this, many camp patients have returned to live with their families. It's an achievement of which we are very proud.

Nakpanduri Medical Clinics

In 2024, we visited the two medical clinics located in Nakpanduri, the neighbouring village of Kpemale. They are in great need of medical equipment. We are currently working to bring them equipment during our next missions in collaboration with Collaboration Santé Internationale, an organisation based in Quebec. Any donations of equipment are also welcome. We may also be able to send trainees from different medical disciplines.

In the long term, we hope that the children our school is currently training to become doctors, nurses, midwives, laboratory technologists, etc. will enable us to ensure the long-term survival of these clinics.

GÎTE DU MANGUIER (The Mango Tree Guesthouse)

Welcome to the Gîte du Manguier! Thanks to the valiant efforts of Marie, Vincent, Donald, Dominique, Joëlle, Peter, Bijakin and all the generous donors, the Gîte du Manguier is now up and running and ready to welcome visitors! We're very proud of it and are convinced that it will make life much easier for our volunteers and participants in the eco-tourism project.

In order to help you prepare for your stay, we have filmed this video showing you the facilities and comforts you can expect to find. Its location close to the river and the 2 opposite windows per room make it particularly airy and comfortable at night. Please note that there is no running water at the moment. We are still hoping to raise the remaining $16,600 to complete the construction in a few years (running water, ceilings, cement floors, tiles in the bathrooms, landscaping the interior courtyard and adding a gate to the exterior wall).

The only detail missing from the video: don't throw anything in the toilet (paper or otherwise). Everything must be put in the bin.

We hope you enjoy this beautiful, peaceful location during your next stay with us!

ENVIRONNEMENT PROJECT

In January 2024, we launched a major environmental improvement initiative at Kpemale. Led by secondary school pupils and supported by teachers Roger Tukin and Elijah Biyak, the aim of this longitudinal project is to raise awareness and improve waste management in the school and then throughout the village. As well as learning how to use bins and not throw rubbish all over the place, we plan to assess the best way of managing the waste collected, but above all we will be campaigning to reduce the amount of waste produced, especially plastics, by assessing how it can be recycled, reused or disposed of.

If this project is close to your heart, for the village and for our planet, your donations are most welcome (click HERE)! We need them to buy equipment (dustbins, gloves and rakes), to support collective awareness-raising activities in the village, to bring in Ghanaian consultants, to visit other villages that have made a success of their ecological transition, and to produce reusable bags locally.

Collaboration Ghana-Québec is a registered charity in Canada (709741870RR0001). You will therefore receive a tax receipt for each donation. All of your donations (100%) go directly to our local administrator, Yaw Konlan, with close tracking of every dollar spent. Our team works on a voluntary basis and personally pays for every expense incurred during missions.
