Sponsorship

Sponsoring a child gives you a special link with a child at primary or secondary school. This makes your contribution concrete and tangible.

By sponsoring a child, you relieve the child's family of the financial burden of paying the usual school fees. The amount donated goes into the school's general budget.

Each sponsored family signs a contract stipulating that the child must attend school and be on time at least 90% of the time to be eligible for sponsorship.

You will receive his or her name, photos and report cards periodically to keep you informed of his or her progress. For your part, your only obligation is to pay his or her school fees each year.

If you wish, you can write him little words of encouragement in French, send him drawings (digitised) or short videos (1-2 minutes). The only way to do this is to email us at: collaborationghanaquebec@gmail.com and send it to them. On each of our missions over there, we'll suggest a way of communicating with your godchild (letter, small gift, etc.). This is optional, for your pleasure only!

General donation

A general donation enables us to carry out our expansion plans, ensure the smooth running of the school and deal with unforeseen events and inflation.

For example, for 2024, our main objectives are to increase the monthly salary of teachers to ensure their retention and to continue building the secondary school (complete the Junior High School section and start the Senior High School section). It's a major project that's very close to our hearts, but one that will require major investment.

The Mango Tree Guesthouse

Planned since 2022, started in 2023 and improved during our visit in January 2024, the Gîte du manguier (The Mango Tree Guesthouse) can now welcome its first visitors. Although current conditions are minimal, our little guest house is functional enough for the adventurers currently visiting the village.

The medium-term goal is to make it comfortable by finishing the floors, ceilings and furnishings and putting in running water.

In this way, it will be able to welcome volunteers for each mission, trainees for longer periods and local or foreign visitors. The income generated will be reinvested in the school.

Environmental Project

In January 2024, we launched a major environmental improvement initiative at Kpemale. Led by secondary school pupils and supported by teachers Roger Tukin and Elijah Biyak, the aim of this longitudinal project is to raise awareness and improve waste management in the school and then throughout the village. As well as learning how to use bins and not throw rubbish all over the place, we plan to assess the best way of managing the waste collected, but above all we will be campaigning to reduce the amount of waste produced, especially plastics, by assessing how it can be recycled, reused or disposed of.

If this project is close to your heart, for the village and for our planet, your donations are most welcome! We need them to buy equipment (dustbins, gloves and rakes), to support collective awareness-raising activities in the village, to bring in Ghanaian consultants, to visit other villages that have made a success of their ecological transition, and to produce reusable bags locally.

Art Book

Created in 2023 by a collective made up of Marc Brazeau, Stéphanie Sauvé, Francine Pilon and Nadine Sauvé, this magnificent book full of photos, children's portraits and poetry takes you on a journey through the heart of our school, the village and majestic Ghana.

It's a great way to get closer to our project and support it at the same time!

Fragments of Africa’ notebook

A team of volunteers, most of whom had taken part in one or more missions, produced a set of 26 postcard-sized cards with a photo on the front and a text on the back. The texts are varied, including poems, anecdotes, reflections and stories. They represent what we experience when we're there, our emotions, our amazement, our learning about the culture and way of life. They are funny, touching and moving. They tell of the astonishment, the richness, the beauty and the suffering. The photos are magnificent and in keeping with the texts. The whole is assembled in a pouch sewn from these magnificent, colourful fabrics from Ghana.

Cost: 60$.

Delivery fee: 5$.
